Abstract
The involvement of Buerger's disease on the mesentery causing left colonic perforation and multiple ischemic chemic changes on the ileum occurred in a middle-aged, non-smoking female patient. This case was diagnosed as mesenteric Buerger's
disease
with
characteristic clinical findings of the abdomen and both extremities. Radiologically, a brachial, femoral and mesenteric angiogram showed the peripheral occlusive arterial disease characteristic of Buerger's disease. A pathologic specimen finally
confirmed mesenteric Buerger's disease with thrombosis in the middle- to small-sized mesenteric Buerger's disease with microabscess formation and recanalization of the organized thrombus in the arterial lumen with an intact elastic lamina.
The incidence of Buerger's disease in females is only than 1%, even in young smoking women. This is a report on Buerger's disease of both extremities and mesentery in a nonsmoking, middle-aged female.
